CAN YOU TELL US A FEW INTERSETING FACTS ABOUT YOURSELF?
I play cricket for Leyland women’s team.
I play netball as well as cricket
I have been living with type 1 diabetes for 11 years
I am currently studying sports coaching at Edge Hill University
WHEN DID YOU START PLAYING CRICKET?
I started playing U9’s at Spring View, but then stopped and then started at Orrell again when I was 11.
WHY DID YOU GET INVOLVED IN CRICKET COACHING?
I have always wanted to work with children and love seeing the progression of their performance, as well as seeing children doing what they love and enjoying it.
WHAT ARE YOU HOPING THE CHILDREN WILL TAKE AWAY FROM THE COACHING SESSIONS?
That they learn a new skill or improve on a previous skill, but most of all enjoy it.
WHAT IS THE AREA OF CRICKET YOU LIKE TO COACH THE MOST?
I prefer to coach bowling, as being a bowler myself makes it easier to help others.
WHAT PIECE OF ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO THE CHILDREN, BOTH BEFORE AND AFTER THE COACHING SESSIONS?
Before the session, I would ask each of the children to try their hardest at all times and give 100% effort as they would in a game, but most of all enjoy it. After the session, I would ask them what they had learned and ask them to remember it and put it into a game situation.
